Chris Schiller has over 15 years in public service. Enlisting in the Oregon Army National Guard as a Healthcare Specialist (Medic), he deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 – 2015 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom / Operation Resolute Support. Chris served in multiple roles in Afghanistan, including as a field medic, an entry control point medic (ECP), and a medic assigned to ISAF HQ.
Chris is a certified Emergency Medical Technician. He also served as a Search and Extraction Medic for the Oregon Air National Guard.
Chris began his law enforcement career as a Reserve Police Officer for the Prineville, Oregon Police Department. Chris has held positions as a Police Chief, Training Sergeant, Special Agent, and Field Training Officer. As a Special Agent, Chris was a member of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT). This involved numerous law enforcement operations within the Los Angeles area.
He is currently a federal law enforcement officer for the Department of Commerce Police. He is a certified Ground Defense Recovery (Defensive Tactics) instructor and has managed the evidence program for several agencies. Chris is a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care instructor through the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). Chris has also served as a use of force investigator, responsible for reviewing all use of force incidents within a department.
Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Portland State University. He is actively pursuing his Master’s degree in Social Work.
